From the original festival in Bethel, to the anniversary festival in Rome and everything in between, a new movie will shine a light on the entire history of Woodstock.
“HIPSTORY: Woodstock the Town, the Festival(s) and the Notion” screens at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Varga Gallery, 130 Tinker St., in Woodstock, New York.
Presented by the Woodstock Museum, the film puts the term ‘Woodstock’ into a larger context beyond just the music and drugs. A discussion of the film will follow on Woodstock cable access channel 23 or online.

There is a new movie about the original 1969 Woodstock concert, and the trailer is now available.
The film Taking Woodstock tells the true story of Elliot Tiber, who helped organizer Michael Lang secure a concert permit for 1969 music festival in upstate New York. The film was directed by Ang Lee (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and also stars Emile Hirsch, Liev Schreiber, Imelda Staunton and Eugene Levy as Max Yasgur, whose farmland became the stage for Woodstock.
